Nicolas Chu

Global traveller, foodie &  history enthusiast, Nicolas is the CEO and founder of Sinorbis, an international business that aims to revolutionise the way companies and organisations do businesses online in China.

He is the managing partner of Altpure (a Sydney-based corporate advisory and private equity investment firm specialising in seed and early stage deals) and also serves as a board director of several companies and organisations.

Recently, he was the global President of HotelClub and interim President of Ebookers, two leading global online companies operating in more than 30 markets with an annual turnover of US$2.5 billion. HotelClub and Ebookers were part of Orbitz Worldwide, which was recently acquired by Expedia Inc. for US1.6bn.

Prior to joining HotelClub, Nicolas spent eight years at Expedia, holding executive positions in Europe and Asia Pacific. Most recently, he was the Managing Director for the company’s Australia and New Zealand business. He has also led retail and product strategy for Expedia Asia Pacific, identifying business opportunities and developing products and services in India, Japan, South-East Asia and Oceania.

Viewed as a key thought leader in the online space, he has a long experience of online businesses ranging from start-ups to large Fortune 500 companies in 3 regions (Europe, the US and APAC). He is a frequent speaker at Internet conferences around the globe, is the author of “How to Succeed in a Website Project”, in French, (Eyrolles Publishing – 6th edition), and lectured at the Diderot University of Paris for Master’s degree programs as a Sr. Lecturer for seven years.
